● Level 1 - The RAC will attend a breakdown and recover you and up to 16 passengers to a single destination in the UK.
● Level 2 - Includes Level 1 cover but adds in the At Home element which provides peace of mind should you breakdown at home.
● Level 3 - Includes Level 1 & Level 2. With Onward Travel, the RAC can arrange alternate travel if they are unable to fix your vehicle at the roadside.
● Level 4 - Includes Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3. Adds in European cover which provides peace of mind if you are planning to take the vehicle to Europe.
Let’s break it down: What do the breakdown cover levels mean?
Roadside Assistance and
Nationwide Recovery
When you call RAC, they always aim to fix your vehicle as quickly as possible. But if your vehicle needs more extensive repairs, nationwide recovery can be a godsend.
Nationwide Recovery means that, if we can’t fix your vehicle at the roadside, we’ll tow your vehicle to any destination in the UK. We’ll also take you and up to 16 passengers with us. This could be a garage of your choice, back home or your final destination.
At home
Home (also known as ‘home start’) breakdown recovery means we’ll come to your rescue if you break down on your doorstep. For example, with a flat battery or a cold engine. The RAC will always try to fix your vehicle there and then – or if we can’t, we’ll tow you to a garage for repair. At Home allows the driver to use Roadside Assistance within 1/4 mile of their home address.
Onward Travel
Onward Travel is an add-on for your breakdown cover. It helps you stay mobile if you can’t be fixed quickly after a breakdown. For example, if your vehicle’s stuck in the garage, you can get a hire car to help you and your family continue your journey. Or an overnight stay in a hotel while you wait for your vehicle to be repaired.
European Multi Trip
Breaking down is the last thing you want when driving in another country. And with the current travel disruption, you may be feeling more nervous than usual. With the European multi trip option, you can rest assured that help is at hand. With the 24/7 English-speaking helpline it’s easy to get help quickly. Cover is provided for up to 90 days for each trip.
