1. HI MATT TELL ME HOW YOU GOT STARTED?
When I was younger I was an actor and I was lucky enough to get roles in ITV1’s ‘Heartbeat’, ‘The Royal’ and three-part drama, written by Sally Wainwright called ‘Unforgiven’.  Then when I was 19, I set up my first business called Tribute Acts Management and that has now grown to manage and represent 500 acts. I have also toured Europe in my Take That Tribute Band called Rule The World and we have been featured on the Graham Norton show with the real Take That. Gary Barlow called us brilliant, which is quite a big compliment and we were massively taken aback by it! In recent years, I have gone on to become a mindset and business coach, break a Guinness world record and even compete in a bodybuilding competition. My biggest passion now is my podcast ‘Success School’ where I am focused on making a real positive impact to help as many people as possible to live happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.

2. WHAT WAS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
As a kid, I was always very ambitious and when I got to age 27 I found myself totally burnt out from years of pushing myself and I started questioning the “hustle culture” we’ve all become so exposed to online. I then went on a real journey of self-development with a focus on trying to figure out what truly makes us happy and fulfilled people. Once I started to make some great changes in my life, it became a real passion to help other people do the same.

3. WHAT IS YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
I’m very proud of all the achievements that I have accomplished over the years, including the Guinness world record, Brit finalist bodybuilding invite, and of course the TV opportunities I’ve taken. But I would honestly say my best achievement is learning to truly be happy with who I am, put myself out there publicly as my authentic self and have the courage to push myself to truly make a difference in other people’s lives. There’s nothing more fulfilling than knowing that you have genuinely helped somebody who was struggling.

4. HOW DO YOU START YOUR DAY? / WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR MH?
I generally like to start the day by getting outside into fresh air, putting on a motivational podcast and getting my steps ticked off. I think it’s really important to set your mental and emotional state for the day and not just be led by emotion and on autopilot.

5. WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
Probably to stay true to yourself, follow your own path and not be swayed by what other people think you should be doing with your life. It’s very easy to be tempted to copy others or compare yourself to others, but it’s important to remember we are all on our own journey.

6. WHAT IS THE WORST ADVICE?
Take no days off, be relentless and don’t stop until you have success. I think any of this general hustle culture type of advice is not very helpful and often leaves people feeling like they are not good enough, become exhausted and burn out. I think it’s important to work hard, but equally to do so in a way that is sustainable and not too extreme.

7. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS TIME?
Probably doing more of the same as I am now in the sense of being open to taking opportunities, pushing myself to be the best I can and serving people in some form. I’d like to think my podcast and online community “Success School” would be making a real difference to millions of peoples' lives and aside from my career I really hope to be in a happy relationship with children.

8. DO YOU HAVE ANY CLAIM TO FAME? IF SO TELL US ABOUT THEM & HOW THEY CAME ABOUT?
My band and I once performed at an intimate party, where guests included the whole of Coldplay, Melanie C from the Spice Girls and a few other celebs. That was a very surreal moment as we were the act performing to people that usually we’d be in the audience watching.

9. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN BUSINESS?
Get help. Seriously, do not do it alone as it is such a difficult journey.  Make sure it is from people who can give you an objective viewpoint and honest feedback. I’d also say to do less, but better. For a lot of us that are creatives and entrepreneurial, we can come up with 101 different ideas and be constantly doing something new. That was certainly me in the early days. Now I try to take on less and just focus on prioritising what I do and making sure I do it to a higher standard.

10. WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO FEELS THEY ARE A LITTLE STUCK AND LOW OF MOOD FOR EXAMPLE?
This would depend on the person and the circumstance, as my answer would vary based on the context.  However, my general guidance would be to speak to people and remember you are not alone. We all go through challenging times and they are not here to last forever. Better times are always around the corner and it’s important to not forget that.

11. HOW DO YOU SPLIT YOUR TIME BETWEEN THE ENTERTAINMENT AGENCY & SUCCESS SCHOOL
Something that is a real hack for me is time blocking. I make sure I spend time every day planning ahead and being specific about what I’m going to achieve in each hour. Without that level of specificity I can get really overwhelmed and then find myself procrastinating. The other thing that really helps me is delegation. Nobody who ever became successful did it alone. It is so important to get the right team of people that you trust around you to help.

12. TELL US ABOUT SUCCESS SCHOOL IN A NUTSHELL AND WHY IS IT IN YOUR OPINION SO SUCCESSFUL?
Success School initially just started out as a podcast and then eventually evolved into a Coaching membership where we have the most incredible community people, and every week we have live coaching sessions or are joined by a guest speaker to share inspiration, education and support. The main focuses of the sessions are  mindset, health, fitness and nutrition, business and finances. I believe these are four of the most important subjects we should become experts on if we want to truly live a happy, healthy and fulfilled life in the western world.

13. WHAT DOES SUCCESS MEAN/LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
When I think of success, I think of the word fulfilled. For me, fulfilment is about feeling truly at peace with who you are, the life you are living and the people you have around you.

14. HOW CAN WE FIND/FOLLOW YOU ON SOCIALS/WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT?

The main place would be Instagram and my handle is @matthallofficial.

Also, you can check out my podcast “Success School” on Apple, Spotify and YouTube
